Landscape photo I
took in Shedd, OR.

Oh, tractors.

I think I could drive
tractors my whole
life and be happy.

I did a bit of
work with the
tractor the other day
and only had one casualty.

Calfy the Calf

The lady I
work for in Shedd
got a new calf
a couple of days
ago!!

His name is Calfy,
and he is a Holstein
bull calf.

He will be meat,
but I don't care.
I will love him while
he is alive.

Swine Unit

In my Animal Science class,
we are currently
learning about hogs or porcine.

For our lab, we visited the
Oregon State University
Swine Unit.

It was awesome.
Luckily, I remembered
my video camera.

First of all, we had to wear
foot booties so we
wouldn't bring outside
bacteria into the hog barn.

It sounded ridiculous when
we all started walking.

These pigs were just so
ugly they were cute.

This guy was sick.
I felt bad for him,
but I couldn't stop laughing
at the sounds he was
making.

Mission: Covered Bridge

I want to visit every
covered bridge in
Oregon.

Tonight,
I visited the
Larwood Bridge.
in Crabtree, OR.

(Reminder: You can
make them bigger)

Ooh..I love it already!

The Bridge!!

This is a weird building off
to the side of the bridge...

...and it has this weird mechanism inside.

Under the bridge...
...and on the bridge!
I WAS HERE!
These cows seemed to find
my picture taking quite
interesting...

School

We are studying
conformation
in my Equine Industries
class.

Instead of just looking
at a picture of all the
bones and joints,
my teacher had us
feel around
and mark each one with tape.

I was the taper.
Not bad, right?

How To

HOW TO: Clean an outside stall

Now,
outside stalls are much

trickier than stalls in
a barn or stalls that have
3 walls and maybe rubber mats

on the floor.

The outside stalls we are
dealing with today,

have mud/gravel bottoms
and
are completely exposed

to the elements.

Let us begin...

First we need to find
our trusty tools.

On first glance,
this stall doesn't look that bad.

Let's zoom in...
still doesn't look
too bad.
But there is evil
lurking below...

See, this
is why outside stalls
are very, very tricky.

After I scoop up
the big pieces,
I rake the smaller
stuff into a pile.

Back and forth
back and forth
back and forth
back and forth
to the muck pile.

Next,
TO THE SHAVING!!

Oh, shavings...

Isn't that the best sight in the world?

Then, just
spread it around!
Yay!!

Oh, we save the best
part for last.

PLAY WITH THE PUPPY!!!

I wish I could take him home.
