To the coast!

Again. I had nothing to do today, so I went to the coast. I stopped into Seaside but I have grown tired of it lately...too touristy.
I continued on to Ft. Stevens. My absolute favorite place in the world.

I stopped by the Peter Iredale shipwreck first. I always try and imagine it back in its hay day.

I don't always go to this battery, because I want it to stay special and because it costs three bucks to park.

I didn't actually know this was a staircase until I took the picture. It was pitch dark in that room and I was curious what was in there.

Zoo

I babysat the D kids for the last time today, so I thought I would take them somewhere special. THE ZOO!!!!!

In a nutshell: Tons of things could have gone wrong...for example, I could have had a hard attack from the sheer stress of corralling 3 kids around a crowded zoo. But thankfully nothing bad happened. It went surprisingly smooth. Thank goodness. Thank goo-ddd-ne-sssssss.

Anecdote Time!

A funny thing happened right outside the sea lion exhibit. There was a lady on a motorized scooter who was trying to maneuver past all the kids...Lailah moves out of the way and comes running over to me. She asks me what that thing is that the lady is riding on. I think she wanted one for herself.

I was trying to pay attention to the whereabouts of the other two kids, so my answer came out fast and without thought.

"It's an electric chair, sweetie." I didn't realize what I said until I heard a couple of guys behind me snickering.

"No, let me rephrase that...It's a motorized scooter...It helps her get around easier." Much better.

Lailah, probably not paying attention anyway, said "oh, ok" and ran back to the sea lions.

Yay! I have an excuse though. I had had only one cup of coffee.

Literal Dust

I literally had to dust off my scanner. It made me sneeze.

I took in THREE roles of film to be developed...and I would say only half turned out well.

I was quite disappointed. But then I realized that I can't expect too much with a old PENTAX film camera.

Here are the scanned photos. (Click on picture for detail)

Bird Lady

I think I might be heading toward a life as a bird lady.

So, this morning I did nothing, then I went to North Portland to get a textbook for my summer class.

This is the book. It cost me $80. I am slightly bitter.

After that, I went to this beautiful place. It is called Hebb Park. There were no geese...so I left.

I came home and washed the car. I was pretty much told I was toast if I didn't wash the car today. It was pretty bad, I have to admit.

Yay! Shiny!

I even vacuumed.

After that, I had some energy left over so I started on my room.

This is my room. It really looks worse than it is.

I decided to quit at 830pm. This is how far I got.

Sheets and Balloons

Why is it so hard for me to find good sheets? Either they are too small or too bunchy or too slippery or too bright or too hot.

I found some dark red sheets a few years back for my full size bed that I loved to death, but when my parents got me a new bed, they got a queen. I reluctantly gave up my favorite sheets. I still use the top sheet and just deal with the smallness.

I long for those perfect sheets...

Today, I went down to the Balloon Festival. No Balloons. I left.

I went to some garage sales...came home...had dinner...and convinced the parents to go back to the Balloon Festival with me.

Balloons this time. Pretty.

Some pictures with my new camera.
I am too tired to dust off the old scanner.

No TV

So, after work my parents like to veg out and decompress in front of the TV. Last night, the TV started acting funny, so my Dad called the cable guy. They came this morning and told us that it wasn't the cable. It is apparently our TV (which is new) that is the problem.

I came home from the Library this afternoon and found this scene:

Little TV moved into Living Room...Dead TV to the left...Dad sitting on a tiny chair eating dinner...

I found this quite hilarious.

I Swear!

Yes, I swear. I have to keep it under control though because nephew Eric is a baby sponge.
Wooo...That would be cool to have a toddler-sized sponge. I don't know what it would be good for, but I would buy it.

He is just so darn cute.

Oregon History

The other weekend I was out driving (listening to my book), and I happened upon some awesome museums in Oregon City. The "Father of Oregon" Dr. John McLoughlin built up Oregon City (19th Century) and made it a thriving town. His house and a few other old houses still remain in Oregon City (his house was moved up the hill because of flooding). I find this history so dang interesting.

This was the guide. He was pretty awesome.

I wasn't suppose to take pictures, but I couldn't help it.

New Hair and Bama

I got my hair cut today. Yay!

Excuse the look on my face.

I was going for a "blue steel" pose.

I think I achieved "crazy stalker" instead.

I also walked Bama for the first time today. Here he is...

Stop Me NOW

I need to be stopped. I bought two items today.

1. A Wallet

I swear I really needed this! My other one was being overtaken by receipts.

2. A Camera

I did not need this, but I wanted it SO bad.

I only paid $55 for it though. I think that's pretty good nowadays.

-IN OTHER NEWS-

Finals are over! Yay! I am free...for a week. Then...back to the mines.

Flat Damn Tire

I went to get in my car this afternoon and one of my tires was completely flat. Luckily, Mom was on her way home and I was only a few minutes late to work. Pheww.

CRISIS AVERTED

I got some more Diana pictures developed today. Yay!

This is the Fort Stevens.

This is the Peter Iredale.

BUMBERSHOOT!!!!!!!!

I am going to Bumbershoot in Seattle this year. I have never been before and some musicians that I really like are going to be there. I am quite excited. I have not been to a concert in over a year.

Yay!

In other news...I am trying to get rid of my bike. I don't know how much to sell it for.

Land of Suck

So, after babysitting this morning, I had some time to kill. I usually go see a movie...but when I got to the theater, I found crap. Well, there was some good stuff but I had already seen it.

I then said, "Screw it, I will see Land of the Lost."

The semi-funny parts they put on the trailer occurred within the first 20 minutes. I was disappointed but I felt I should at least give it 30 minutes. It didn't get much better.

So, I picked up my bag and walked out.

I ended up catching the last hour of Star Trek. I had already seen Star Trek twice but I was determined to get my $7.25 worth.

So, I got out of there about 45 minutes before I thought I would, which left me a couple of hours to kill before class.

That leads me here.

I am at school...doing absolutely nothing.

My eye keeps catching this thing behind me.

A Drive

This is somewhere along the coast...

Sleepy Sea Lions in Newport

For some odd reason I decided to go to The Enchanted Forest.

This was a big mistake.

I think I have about 9 new phobias.

Spiders and Netflix

There has been a few spiders that have somehow infiltrated my arachno-free castle AKA my room. I realized they were probably getting in through the hole in my wall...stupid cable guy forgot to plug up the spider-sized hole he drilled in the wall while installing cable. I WILL SUE!

I could have been killed. Luckily, I have no blind spots.

There is a tack on my wall that keeps freaking me out. The shadow it casts looks exactly like a black widow.

On the netflix side of things...There are a bunch of new additions to the WATCH INSTANTLY tab. Yay!

I cannot decide. Romantic comedy? Thriller? Weepy drama?

I will eventually pick something and decide it sucks two minutes in...happens every time.

Pro Film

I got my first pro pack today.

It is color film for my Diane camera.

Hopefully these pictures will turn out.

Need To Know

We watched a very REAL movie today in class. I recorded a short clip of it.

It is called What A Way To Go.

It basically tackles the big topics...peak oil, climate crisis, human race...

Holy Cow. I understand why people don't want to think about these things.

I feel you have to though.

Mom

Mom had a mammogram today, so I got a ride into Portland. We decided to go to Pastini's.

Yay!
