A part of
my Sheep Production class
is the lab.
These labs are basically
field trips to
different sheep
operations in the
area.
On Thursday,
we went to
Lynn Barn's place.
He is 92-years-old and,
for the most part,
does everything himself.
Anyway,
we ventured out to Halsey
and he showed us around his place.
I brought my video camera along.
In the video below,
the ewe's are in "jug pens."
They are basically
little birthing units
for the ewes.
A few days after the birth,
the ewe and it's lamb(s) are
out of the jug pens.
They are sent out to the pasture during the day
and they come into a
community pen at night.
FYI: The lambs don't have blood
on them, the red
is their number
painted on their side.
The little lamb in the video below would not leave the
fence. You can hear him calling back and forth
to his Mom. She definitely sounded annoyed. :)
We were standing out
there for like 20 minutes
and he would not go out to meet his Mom.
Silly lamb.
